Don't Forget - Every Pet Needs A Vet!

Advanced Nutrition for Cats and Dogs

Most pet foods that you buy at the grocery store are now fortified to provide balanced nutrition for the average cat and dog. A few companies, like Purina and Royal Canin have done extensive studies and produced diets specifically formulated for pets with special needs. The doctors at the Animal Medical Diagnostic Center have used dietary management for many years to successfully control and prevent certain health problems in cats and dogs.  Because of the scientific formulation of these diets, they should only be dispensed, or prescribed by a veterinarian. An inappropriate diet could potentially be harmful. Keep in mind that many grocery store pet food labels try to imitate the claims of some veterinary prescription diets.

Below are some of the uses of prescription veterinary diets. Before changing to any prescription diet we recommend a complete physical examination, a thorough patient history, and possibly laboratory testing & imaging.  Cats or dogs can suffer from any of these conditions.  Some of these illnesses may even require medication in addition to dietary change.

Please remember, there are may other causes of these symptom
